Surpassed in age only by the Bookemists' Quarter, this trigonal arrangement of handsome, close-cropped rhomboidal tenements is home to upscale townhouses perched over high-end book collectors and publishers' offices.

MELODROM BUGGY

1,000 SILVER PENNIES. Crosses a district twice as fast as on foot.

The well-to-do of Bookholm get about in lacquer buggies drawn by talking Melodromedaries. These close cousins of the Bactrian camel absorb emotions rather than water. There's nothing worse than sitting behind one at a good bit of theatre: by the third act, their rapidly swelling humps will have totally blocked your view.

One of the more common threats to encounter in Trinity. Usually Bookhunters tired of spelunking who have moved into guarding for a bit of job security. Can be dangerous when bored, or if you attempt a robbery.

Black-bristled Hoggling. A freelance publishing agent. Comes across as physically harmless, energetic, loyal, and passionate; maybe a little naive. His M.O. is to obtain manuscripts from newcomers to Bookholm hoping to strike it big, then drug and lure them into the deep cellars of the Catacombs where they are invariably never seen again.

special: Cartilaginous bones allow him to squeeze through any space bigger than his eye (softball-sized).

Crimson, warty-skinned Semiotic Gnome1. He is shaped like a question mark, his one jaundiced eye blinking crustily from the curved end of his tuberous body. While not necessarily true of all Semiotic Gnomes, this one's speech and behaviour does indeed reflect his physical form: every sentence tilts upwards at the end, querulously, hovering in the air like an indecisive mosquito.

Druzdeln exclusively collects and sells BOOKS from the Golden List. Such is his expertise and influence that many of the BOOKS currently on said list were put there at his discretion. He employs a rotating squad of 24 Rhino-Men to watch his zinc-plated book vault day and night. If you're looking to join the Bookhunting big leagues, chances are you will become acquainted with this funny little fellow. But beware: his appearance belies a deep reserve of grit. Druzdeln deals with those who would threaten his collection with cold and deadly efficiency.

  1. Gnomic cyclopes with cartilaginous bones that, with maturity, settle into a frame resembling any of the common punctuation marks. Some say they are the product of ancient Bookemistic experiments, while others say the Semiotic Gnomes predate punctuation, and in factm invented it.
